rewatched brush up life. it's my favorite j-drama. time travel and friendship themes are my favorite things in media. i think i have an extra attachment to this show because asami is close to my age so the media references really hit on a personal level. playing sailor moon at recess, reading nana in middle school, perfume playing in the car in high school with friends, purikura, karaoke. it just really aligned with my experiences at those ages. i think the thing that i like the most is that it doesn't really go into romance at all and is way more focused on friendship and i just need more media for adults to do this.

okay i have been terrible at updating this, i think because i've had in the back of my mind that i want to change the layout of this section. i guess i also haven't been watching much because nothing felt right. battle of fates started airing and i finally felt excited about a tv show again and then i hopped on possesed love. korean media will never release it's chokehold on me.

learning about korean shamanism had some relatable elements to my experiences, like 신병. i still found myself envious when i thought about how untouched it was by colonization and that made me cry. i guess what really resonated with me while watching these shows is how universally isolating it can feel. possessed love really lit me up tbh. i was just like "oh there is hope that i can find someone that may understand or be interested in some of what i've been through."
