kanpekiseijo is probably my biggest shock this season. i wasn't expecting to adore it as much as i do. it had a shoujo tag and looked pretty but my expectations weren't high because the fantasy shows that get adaptations haven't really fulfilled any of the things that i'm looking for in a girly fantasy show. and the full title, "the too-perfect saint: tossed aside by my fiancé and sold to another kingdom" is insane lol.

kuudere characters are usually a miss for me but it works here because of her backstory. and she really is just charming.

i love how every time someone is nice to philia or pays attention to her the animation shows these things as alien. she is so cute i can't stand it.

looking forward to how the romance goes. likeeee yes beautiful prince, save her from her evil upbringing and give her all of the love that she didn't receive. she deserves the world.

i was especially pleasantly surprised by mia. generally her character would be oblivious to everything happening to her sister or she would play some sort of villain role. love driven revenge plots are too fun.

"i'll get engaged to this man. i'll take him to the heights of ecstasy, give him a long leash, and then, when i deem the time to be right...i'll betray him. after all, he has to be punished for betraying my sister."

the first couple of episodes of anne shirley were really sweet. i was hesitant to pick it up knowing that there is already a 70's adaptation. one of my main issues with anime from the 2010s onward has been the transition to shows averaging 12 episodes. if we are really "lucky" like in this case we get 24. it's incredibly restrictive. anyway, it doesn't feel rushed or like it's missing important things. the animation is really pretty too. so blessed to have a cozy coming of age show about a little girl in the current anime landscape.

witch watch was cute. i love nico so much, she is so funny and cute. it kind of reminds of me classic rumiko takahashi and i'm here for it.

this has been the best anime season in maybe the past decade+ imo and it's been such a pleasant surprise. we've finally hit this return to more diverse character designs and stories and i hope it continues to push in this direction. it feels a lot like how watching anime in the 2000's felt for me. it's not that there is anything particularly revolutionary or anything, it's more to do with the variety.

kowloon generic romance has really nostalgic character designs and the atmosphere is incredibly charming.

"sorry, wrong person"

my favorite romances always have sci-fi or supernatural elements.

something about goldfish and memories.

i want to buy the manga but i don't want to spoil the mystery for myself yet.

i picked up the gorilla god's go to girl because of the shoujo and reverse harem tags. reverse harems have been absolute garbage for a long time now. they've been so bland. this one has the charm of 2000's shoujo harems that i've been missing.

the visuals aren't notable but the sillyness more than makes up for that.

currently obsessed with the dog boy with nice legs, he is such a good boy. probably getting second lead syndrome again ~sigh~

i finished "i have a crush at work" and it was surprisingly good all the way through. anime romcoms with adults are pretty rare and usually lacking so it's always nice to find an exception.

starting the show with the main couple already in a relationship was a welcome change too. i think it was just really nice seeing wholesome mature relationships without messy drama.

it's cute that they showed them having a sexual relationship consistently without it being awkwardly forced and fanservice driven.

the screen time for the secondary couple was balanced in very well. the contrast between their dynamics was perfect. i may actually like the second couple more but i'm probably biased because i prefer dating younger men lmao. no, but really their chemistry is great and i loved watching them fall for each other. so fluttery~

starting the spring anime season finally. i love shinchiro watanabe and i've been looking forward to lazarus for a while so that was the obvious show for me to start with. the animation is super well done, particularly the action scenes, but it's mappa so lol.

the premise is really interesting. this feels more similar to cowboy bebop than any of his other shows (aside from maybe space dandy but that was way different in tone.) looking forward to learning about the characters.

i'm already in love this this anime man please help
